
William Lee Golden
William Lee Golden (born January 12, 1939, in Brewton, Alabama) is an iconic American country and gospel singer best known as the baritone voice of The Oak Ridge Boys, which he joined in 1965. With his waist-length beard and long hair, he became one of the most recognizable figures in country music, helping guide the Oaks from their gospel roots into mainstream country success. He briefly left the group in 1987 to pursue a solo career, releasing the acclaimed album American Vagabond, before rejoining in 1995. Over the decades, he has earned multiple Grammy Awards, induction into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and numerous CMA, ACM, and Dove Awards. Beyond his work with the Oaks, Golden also performs with his family band, William Lee Golden & The Goldens, carrying forward a multi-generational legacy of harmony and storytelling.
