Jay Franze:

There's ulterior motives. What are your feelings on conspiracy theories?

Tiffany Mason:

I like to hear them, I consider them and then I go about my day. You don't focus on them. No, all right.

Jay Franze:

Well, let's start and just go through this list. We're going to go ahead and start at number one. I don't know if it's a countdown list or not, but we're going to start at one. mean yeah or Taylor. Fans of the two believe that he popped the question right after Taylor's appearance on the New Heights podcast, which was recorded on August 13th oh, 13 being her number. They believe that he used her appearance as a distraction while he got the proposal set up in his Kansas backyard.

Tiffany Mason:

Okay, well, that's pretty legit. That's a conspiracy theory, conspiracy, conspiracy theory I can get behind.

Jay Franze:

So I don't know if it's true or not, I don't know if I would believe it or not, but Makes sense, it is coincidental.

Tiffany Mason:

Jay Franze:

Yeah, all right. Well, next is the power of 13. The announcement dropped at 1 pm on the 26th, a nod to her favorite number 13 plus 13 is 26 and the 13th hour, and it was the two of them becoming one. So a lot of reaching, a lot of reaching to make this stuff happen. It says the timing and the date are fueling the theories about this. Neurological is it? Numerological was like neurological. I'm so hung up on neurologic these days but numerological, is that how you pronounce that numerological? Yeah all right well I think that's stretched.

Jay Franze:

I think you're stretching for that one.

Tiffany Mason:

I think so too, although how could they have kept it a secret for 13 days? Because if it happened on the 13th, when the interview happened, then they held out for 13 days.

Jay Franze:

You've got to tell your family and stuff first. I don't know All right, let's move on to number three Floral Garden Easter Eggs. Floral Garden, easter Eggs. The engagement setting reminded fans of visuals from her lover error and her love story video.

Tiffany Mason:

Some spotted a tiny engravement, the letter T, potentially standing for taylor or travis this sparked speculation that the ring itself is an easter egg okay, fun fact to know and tell, I guess, that the ring that Taylor got was actually designed by a former Jacksonville Florida native Nice.

Jay Franze:

I did hear a lot about that on the radio yesterday.

Tiffany Mason:

So it's basically like it was made here.

Jay Franze:

And the ridiculous dollar amount of that ring.

Tiffany Mason:

Well, I heard a number that I was like no way $33,000? I was like no way.

Jay Franze:

Higher dollar amounts. Yes, yes, shut the front door yes, ma'am whoa, and it was because of the type of diamond and the type of work that went into making the ring, and it was a six carat diamond.

Tiffany Mason:

I think it was six and a half carat I tried to look it up, but I couldn't find the answer the person who was doing this was from a jewelry store.

Jay Franze:

They weren't a swifty as well.

Tiffany Mason:

They wish there was a 13 carat diamond and I'm like that would drop her hand to the floor yeah, yeah, I think it is wise, when women get larger rings or when men purchase larger rings, to not get the princess cut, which is the. You know, it's my cut. It's from my era. My kids have been scratched by that ring so many times, like during diaper changing and stuff. Oh my gosh, my poor children. And now I've scratched my grandchildren. It's going well, the ring is going well.

Jay Franze:

All right. Next, advanced knowledge. They believe that she has advanced knowledge because of her perfectly manicured nails, coordinated outfit and poised readiness for the announcement photos.

Tiffany Mason:

I mean, that's kind of how she rolls.

Jay Franze:

I was just going to say she's always like that, right, that's not abnormal for her. Always ready for a photo, always looks sharp.

Tiffany Mason:

And I think that's kind of the role of a celebrity right. You kind of are always on.

Jay Franze:

You have to expect that, and she was also appearing on the show, which was a video show.

Usually, before something a bit like that, I think, you consult your parents. Yeah, because you don't? Have to but no, no Okay.

All right. Well, yes, he did go to her father, though, so that is a true statement, whether or not we think there's a reason behind it. Was there any sort of calculated reason behind going to her father first?

Tiffany Mason:

Tradition, right, respect. I don't know, call me crazy, all right number seven album episode symbolism.

Jay Franze:

The engagement closely follows the promotion of her 12th album, the life of a showgirl, which was announced during the podcast. Fans tie the album reveal and engagement to suggest coordinated storytelling.

I could see that. Maybe she did that. But if I'm Taylor Swift, I don't want my engagement to have anything to do with my business. I just want it to be about me and my fiance.

I do not know the release dates.

Tiffany Mason:

Okay, but it doesn't mean anything about a wedding. She just has a diamond infinity ring. Well, if it was a pre-engagement.

then she might know that the engagement was coming and might be able to be part of all of this planning.

Tiffany Mason:

But oh, mom is saying her album comes out on October 3rd. Mom is saying I mean Kathy Lloyd is saying October 3rd.

Jay Franze:

Combining a fiery energy with deeply personal storytelling, he's turned his homegrown roots into something that resonates everywhere. It made me think of that song by Chris Young and Kane Brown. I got some famous friends you probably never heard of, although when I went to go play famous back home it has a different sound to it. I would hope so I'm not sure how.

Tony Scott:

I feel about it.

Jay Franze:

I would hope it would have a different sound, Otherwise it'd be bad.

Tiffany Mason:

It'd be bad. Okay, this I thought was very interesting. So there's a new Gallup poll and it's showing that Americans are drinking less and they're wondering if it's going to kind of, you know, reshape some of these classic themes of booze bars and broken hearts in the country lyrics. And I was thinking about that too that, like my kids, my adult children, drinking is fine but it's not like the center of their life, it's not like the main thing all their friends are doing all the time yeah, I heard this as well.

Jay Franze:

The concern was that once people stop drinking completely, eventually these songs will not only go out of fashion, but people won't know what they mean. I don't think there's anything to worry about people.

Tiffany Mason:

I don't think so either.

Jay Franze:

It was a bunch of songwriters saying should we still write about drinking beer?

Tiffany Mason:

Mm-hmm.

Jay Franze:

Yes, continue on your merry way.

Tiffany Mason:

Yeah, the beer sales may be down, but they're not down that much. There's still a good majority of people drinking. Okay. So the next thing I want to tell you about is Old Dominion. Old Dominion, they have dropped a new record and it is their most personal album yet. Okay. So the group opens up like never before, their most personal album yet. Okay. So the group opens up like never before. They had a candor and vulnerability that even surprised themselves during the recording process. Well, this was kind of a cool collab coming up. So Bon Jovi has a record and it was called Forever and it was released last year, but he's remaking it, I guess, with some collaborations. I guess it's the legendary edition. Sorry. Collaborating with are laney wilson, jelly roll and a few others set to release on october 24th, and it has all of the collaborations, the a-list lineup of artists to reimagine songs on forever, which was released, like I said, in 2024. Why would you release a record and then, one year later, improve it?

Tiffany Mason:

because you can, I guess it seems like a lot of work. Wouldn't you have just done that the first time around, probably?

Jay Franze:

because you didn't get enough airplay with the original I know that's what I was thinking too.

Tiffany Mason:

He's trying to learn from the collaborator. I think that's the number one game in Nashville right now.

Jay Franze:

That and referring back to old songs 80s and 90s songs, yeah, which I thought was cool but it's getting a little overdone.

Tiffany Mason:

I only know three songs and so far I'm okay with all three of them. I'll take it each time, no problem.

Jay Franze:

All right, Doesn't bother me, I don't mind when it's done as like a little nod or something, but some of them are getting to be a little much.

Tiffany Mason:

He's confessing fear of failure haunting in his early days. So even icons battle self-doubt. Kenny reveals how insecurity shaped his journey, proving the road to stardom isn't always smooth. I was doing a little bit of research about artists and just how they present themselves on stage and and I was actually surprised to learn, quite a few artists still have panic before they go out on stage. They still have anxiety. So they have to come up with all these rituals or you you know different practices that they're going to do before they go on stage. So that is surprising, but not surprising, I suppose, if I can say that learning that recently on that list was luke combs and luke bryan.

Jay Franze:

I was surprised because their stage presence is great, but I think when people have that kind of anxiety and stuff, it usually goes away once they start. So yeah, it's the build-up to the moment that people usually get nervous about. You know, thinking something might go wrong, piece of equipment might not work. You know what happens if I trip on my way to the stage yeah but once it gets going, I think I'm not speaking for them, but I think that that's typically the type of stuff that happens.

Tiffany Mason:

Yeah.

Jay Franze:

Luckily, that is not one of the things that bother me. I don't get worried about things like that. I get worried about all sorts of other things, but that's not one of them.

Tiffany Mason:

You got 99 problems, but that's not one of them Exactly. Okay, I do not know this rapper, but the rapper's name is Big X the Plug and he has dropped a country-inflected album.

Jay Franze:

He was on stage and made a comment that I guess now I have to make a country album, and everybody went nuts. And when he got off stage his management said well, guess what, now you have to make a country album. Ooh, ooh, ooh. Drugs and firearms.

Tiffany Mason:

Oh, that's why he was arrested.

Jay Franze:

I don't know that to be true, but what I'm reading on the internet right now says he was arrested just hours later in Dallas on drugs and firearm charges.

Tiffany Mason:

I mean, sounds like a stereotypical rapper.

Jay Franze:

Again.

Tiffany Mason:

Oh well, a gentleman named Braxton Keith. He actually ended his concert early in Oklahoma due to fans throwing beer cans. What is wrong with people? You paid money to go to this concert and then you start throwing crap at the artists. What is happening?

Jay Franze:

Reminds me of Roadhouse.

Tiffany Mason:

For real. Weren't you the one that sent me the Gavin Adcock video of he's up there singing and then a fan like comes up on stage?

Jay Franze:

Didn't just go up on stage. He like pulled some acrobatic move to get on stage.

Tiffany Mason:

Yeah, he was like a ninja, yeah, and then it was kind of sad because, security, they struggled to get up. Well, after they struggled to get up on stage, oh, well, the one guy came from the back of the stage and crushed him.

Jay Franze:

Yeah, Like a football player.

Tiffany Mason:

Like, hey, I'll give Gavin credit. I'll give him credit, he didn't flinch. He just turned and watched it all happen. All right, let's continue.

And if it truly was a fan, I'm sure he's just trying to get up there. I'm sure he's been drinking because you know, the sales of alcohol are down.

Tiffany Mason:

He's got to drink more to supplement the people that aren't drinking Pitiful. Pitiful. Okay. Well, another artist, austin Snell, isn't shying away from the shadows. His newly released EP digs into life's darker chapters with emotional depth. It is called Sweet Home, hell, mm-hmm.

Jay Franze:

So he must really be putting it out there he's another one he came from the military and came out of the military, picked up a guitar and started playing music in his 20s. That, to me, is crazy his first album came out in 22, but hell, when I grew up, people played music for 20 years right 20 years, nothing. You don't have an album in your 20s.

Tony Scott:

You played music for 20 years.

Jay Franze:

But, man, it's a different world these days, really is. I is.

Tiffany Mason:

Well, I have a new episode coming out tomorrow on Memories of the Beat. It is with Mickey Hellenbach and he has a really cool thing going on. We talked about the song Autopilot and actually, mr Franzy, you did edumacate me about Queens of the.

Jay Franze:

Stone Age.

Tiffany Mason:

Thank you, queens of the Stone Age. I was not aware of them and you had some fun facts that you had shared with me before I interviewed him, which was great, and we talked about autopilot A fun story that when he was 16, when he heard the song and how it came to be and I don't know, I just really loved it, loved connecting with him. He's a music journalist in California and he's working on a special project called Convo at the Spot and he's interviewing people at diners, restaurants, whatever, from their childhood to kind of relive memories, kind of like picking a song and reliving memories from the song. So it's kind of cool and it was a really great conversation and I really enjoyed my time with him. Nice, yeah, so I think that's it.

Tiffany Mason:

This weekend is kind of nothing going on. We're boring people. The world is our oyster. You know. I always tell people when they come to visit there's always like seriously, eight things you can do on any given day down here, and so we'll just close our eyes, point to the events and just go do something. So never worried about not having plans. Mr Mason doesn't like plans. Mr Mason likes to be spontaneous.

Jay Franze:

Yes, absolutely Good for you, mr Mason, I am on your side.

Tiffany Mason:

I did hear him chatting about a jumbo shrimp baseball game, which I normally decline, but our evenings have been kind of cool-ish and so maybe I could go survive a game. But if it's the 3 pm game, I'm out. I don't ever go.

Jay Franze:

Weather here has been beautiful the past few days. It's been in the 70s.

Tiffany Mason:

Yeah, that's what it was tonight.

Jay Franze:

Well, this weekend is a holiday weekend.

Tiffany Mason:

I know.

Jay Franze:

My wife would like to go visit the mother-in-law in Tennessee.

Tiffany Mason:

Oh, I'm so jealous.

Jay Franze:

Which means she's going to leave with the kids, oh, and I'm going to stay here.

Tiffany Mason:

If it was Bella, she wouldn't be paying attention enough to know. But this weekend, loverboy, I'm going to go check out Loverboy, and you know who else is playing Same? Night, same venue, but one's indoors, one's outdoors Is Carried Away.

Tiffany Mason:

The Carrie Underwood tribute oh, mm-hmm.

Jay Franze:

So I'm hoping I can catch both of them, say hi to both of them and see some good music and get out of there.

Tiffany Mason:

Yeah Well, and you got your little sidekick Lucy, so that's perfect.

Jay Franze:

She won't be going with me. It's at a casino.

Tiffany Mason:

Jay Franze:

It's 21 plus and besides, she's got a birthday party Saturday. That's why she's not going with the family. She's going to go spend the night with a friend.

Tiffany Mason:

Well, we talked last week that those parties they're a couple day ragers, so they got to get their Starbucks party in, they got to get their shopping party.

Jay Franze:

Their pedicure yeah.

Tiffany Mason:

All I get there shopping for food, pedicure there, yeah, all nine yards.

Jay Franze:

Yes, all right, my friend, well, this sounds like Lucy has a busy weekend. She's got a better weekend than I do.

Tony Scott:
